English translation
1. To You we bring our burdens, Great Shepherd of the sheep; O look in mercy on the lamb You chose to save, O Jesus!
2. You see how long we've wandered, Full of sin beyond repair; O Lord, forgive and come to us, You refuge of the helpless!
3. We've often looked to You alone, The true tree of life; Joy has fled from our hearts, And hope is gone as well.
4. We have no strength to bow again, We're weary of the gospel; Our lamps are almost going out, Because the oil is spilled.
5. In churches there's no longer heard The cries of contrite hearts; Your thorns no longer comfort us, And even good things fall away.
6. Where are the zeal of former days, When we did not forsake You? That love has now all gone away, And all that's left is weariness.
7. Come, Lord of the Church, with power, Awake Your sleeping people; In Your love, though You may strike us, We pray: O Savior, save us still!
